Week 10-11 – What We are Eating and How Much We Spent on Groceries 2022

I did not grocery shop last week. I was really sick and just didn’t get to the grocery store. I figured it would be a good week to just buy a couple of things we needed and otherwise skip shopping. With just a few things to buy we only spent $39.83 at the store last week. We did order out subs one night and that cost us $20.66 and Scott went out for breakfast one day and that cost $10. So all in all we did pretty good in the food department though I would like to try skipping shopping again when I actually feel better and can have a better plan.

Yesterday I grocery shopped and spent $144.60 which I didn’t think was bad considering!

On the menu this week:

Dinners: Hey it’s St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday so Corned beef and cabbage it is! We are also having taco salads, stuffed chicken breasts and veggies, Smoked Pork Chops, Pork Tenderloin (hopefully on the grill) and an easy dinner of a DiGiorno pizza one night.

For Breakfast: Mango smoothies, breakfast grain bowls, cereal, English muffins and quiche and oatmeal and fruit

Lunches are tuna cold plate, deviled eggs, mac salad, and leftovers.

In looking back at my last post for week nine I said I was getting overwhelmed by the amount of stuff on my to-do list. Not long after that post I started to feel a cold coming on and with the amount of stuff that I had to get done that week, what should have been a mild cold turned into a full blown infection that took me out for more than 10 days. I didn’t start to feel better until I got an antibiotic in me. This has to change for me. Getting myself so run down does not help anyone and the next time I feel that overwhelmed with tasks to do I will just stop pushing. Period.

I am working on multiple posts and hope to post again mid-week with my garden and preserving goals for the up-coming growing season.

Have a fantastic week 🙂 -MM

Welcome to my Blog! My world is my husband and son (soon to be moving into his own home) and my step-children (fully grown) and our two cats who are definitely ying and yang. My day job is as Deputy Clerk of my home town in Western, NY but when I get home I have two side gigs, one as a professional private baker, and two, as an Etsy shop owner selling vintage and antique dishes and accessories. I have been gardening and growing my own food since my grandfather taught me at the ripe old age of 5. I stitch, I bake, I grow food, I can and preserve, I grocery shop to save money and eat well and boy do I have massive to-do lists. I hope you enjoy my day to day writings.

  1. Glad you are on the mend! This is no time to get sick with all the crazy stuff going on. Looking forward to your garden plans. We are going for calories this year, so more potatoes and winter squash, carrots, etc.

    1. I never thought of growing for more calories Kathy but that makes sense! Last year was a terrible year for preserving for us. I didn’t really get anything canned or frozen that has been terrible useful to us this winter. Only tomatoes and sauce. I also feel like I didn’t grow much that I could get canned either. I really need to concentrate on the peas, beans, peppers, tomatoes and the fruits this year. Onions and garlic are always a priority too. And corn!
